Back in May, during their spring tour, Tim and Eddie of Handsome Ghost stopped by to play "Shallow City" to some dogs at Furkids in Atlanta.
ABOUT FURKIDS
Furkids, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that operates the largest cage-free, no-kill shelter in the Southeast for rescued cats and Sadie’s Place, a no-kill shelter for dogs. Furkids also operates one of the only facilities in the Southeast dedicated to the care of FIV positive cats. The Furkids mission is to rescue homeless animals, provide them with the best medical care and nurturing environment while working to find them a forever home. Furkids heals the whole animal, physically and emotionally, restoring its health and its spirit. Furkids has rescued and altered more than 25,000 animals since its founding in 2002. Approximately 1,000 animals are in the Furkids program today, in the Furkids shelters, 13 PetSmart and Petco adoption centers, and more than 400 foster homes in the Atlanta area.
THE DOGS
Though most of the pups have been adopted already, a few pups that appeared in the video are still searching for their forever homes! To see all available animals, visit https://furkids.org/dog-adoptions/
SATCHEL
Satchel had been picked up as a stray by Animal Control. He was in very bad shape -- severely underweight, covered in Demodex mange, and suffering from both parvovirus and pneumonia. One could tell that he was in a lot of pain. Something in Satchel's eyes caught the attention of Furkids staff and that's all it took for Satchel to become a Furkid. We knew that we could give Satchel the best veterinary care possible, but more than that, we knew we could find him a good home.
Satchel has completely recovered from parvovirus and pneumonia. He still needs to gain some weight and his skin is clearing up nicely with medication (Demodex is not contagious to other animals or humans). We’ve included the photo taken at the county shelter to show you how much he's improved in the time that he's been with Furkids. Understandably, Satchel is very timid around humans, though according to his foster family, he is much more confident about meeting new people and is more than eager to find his forever home!

PRINCESS
“My ideal home has no other animals and my people have lots of time to spend with me!”
Princess has been patiently waiting for her forever castle. Moats are optional, although Princess does enjoy a refreshing swim once in a while (go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua2Ee3TKkzI). A patch of grass would be a welcome addition. At 70 lbs., Princess appreciates a good back scratching roll. Princess has the impeccable manners you would expect from a royal. She responds to basic commands, walks nicely on lead and looks good in a tiara. Not surprisingly, Princess is a tennis fan. She would rather watch it on the tube with you than sit in the Royal Box at Wimbledon. She is learning the ins and outs of baseball and American football. Give her a spot on the sofa and her own bowl of popcorn and Princess will follow your favorite sports all season long. Princess has been affectionate and devoted to her foster family. She is happy to accompany you on a stroll or spend the afternoon lazing about the house. Princess makes few demands on her humans but she does insist on being the only furkid in the home. If you can commit to keeping only one furkid in your castle, come adopt this very loving and affectionate Princess!

FLYTRAP
Flytrap is a small bundle of unique, cuteness! He came to Furkids from a county shelter after being found as a stray. He is now a Furkid, ready to find his furever home.
His caretakers report that Flytrap weighs about 7 pounds, has soft, curly dog hair, and walks well on a leash. He is a delicate dog, and would likely do best with adults. Flytrap can be very picky about his dog and human friends so it is very important that all family members meet him to make sure everyone gets along.
